Todays Interview
Today I had an interview. It went well I think. The job is client side (hey work is work.) It’s an opportunity to rebuild a recently acquired brand from the ground up. I’m freaking excited at the possibility.
Here’s what I learned today:
- Make a list of things that are important to discuss. Write that list down on your way to the interview. This will help put you in the right mindset.
- Show up early. If you are stressing out because your train got held up in a subway tunnel your not going to be focused on the interview. You are going to be focused on how fast you can run 4 blocks from the station to the door. Then you will be distracted by the rivulets of sweat running down your brow. So my new plan is to show up not 15 minutes beforehand, but get there about half an hour early and find a place to get a drink nearby. It should go without saying that a bar is not a good place to get a drink before an interview. Maybe afterwards. I like club soda.
Now take a sip of sparkling mineral fruity iced herbal tea, go over your questions, your portfolio, and make sure one last time that your fly is up.
